Cigna believes that investing in the health of our communities directly connects with our overall success. The Cigna Foundation is an important part of that strategy.
Established more than 50 years ago, in 1962, the Cigna Foundation carries out our corporate philanthropy goals of bringing Cigna’s mission and brand promise to life for individuals and communities around the globe. This is accomplished through strategically focused charitable grants to nonprofit organizations whose work enhances the health of individuals and families and the well-being of their communities.
'Spreading the Health': World of Difference Grants
In 2015, the Cigna Foundation’s World of Difference grant platform will focus on health equity, giving everyone the best opportunity to achieve a healthier, more secure life. We will work together with dedicated non-profit partners, and use the knowledge and expertise of Cigna’s professionals, to help people overcome barriers to their health and well-being related to factors such as ethnicity, race, gender, age, geography, or economics.
Cigna Civic Affairs
Every day, through the programs offered by the Civic Affairs team, the people of Cigna are making a difference in communities around the world.
Cigna's Civic Affairs team coordinates our community support across the country. The following Civic Affairs programs allow Cigna to build relationships in communities and offer employees meaningful ways to connect with each other and with our neighbors.
Community Service Program:
Gives eligible employees up to 8 hours of paid time to volunteer per year.
Cigna Matching Gifts Program:
Matches, dollar-for-dollar, eligible employee gifts to non-profit charities meeting a few basic guidelines.
Cigna Foundation Grants for Givers:
Directs $200 awards to charities where employees regularly volunteer.
Cigna Healthy Lifestyle Grants:
Allows employees to direct a $100 “Healthy Lifestyle Grant” to the charity of their choice when they participate in an organized healthy event.
Cigna also connects with nonprofit organizations working to improve the health of individuals, families and communities through financial support. Cigna Civic Affairs Sponsorships are offered in major Cigna markets to organizations whose goals and approach to service align with Cigna's mission.
Cigna Corporate Charitable Contributions are funds given to nonprofit organizations through event sponsorships or direct support in communities where Cigna has a presence. Beneficiaries are selected by Cigna leadership based in those communities.
