President, HealthSpring
Herb Fritch joined Cigna in February of 2012 as President, HealthSpring, Inc. to lead the company through a strategic expansion into the growing senior and Medicare segments. In this role, he is responsible for solidifying Cigna’s presence as a leading health service provider for the growing U.S. seniors market and guiding new opportunities for customers as they transition from their careers into retirement years.
Prior to joining Cigna, Fritch founded HealthSpring, one of the largest and fastest growing coordinated care plans serving the Medicare and Medicaid populations. Fritch served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer for HealthSpring, Inc. since the commencement of operations in September 2000.
Before founding HealthSpring, Fritch founded and served as president of North American Medical Management, Inc., an independent physician association management company, from 1991 to 1999. Prior to that, he worked as Regional Vice President at Partners National HealthPlans, founded a regional managed care company called Sanus Corp. Health Systems, and served as a consulting actuary at Milliman and Robertson.
An actuary by training, Fritch is an industry thought leader and brings with him nearly 40 years of experience in the healthcare field. He holds a B.A. in Mathematics from Carleton College and is a fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the Academy of Actuaries.
