Edward Kim, President & General Manager
Mr. Kim is the President and General Manager of Cigna Medical Group responsible for strategic direction and operations of CIGNA's direct clinical delivery asset. A senior healthcare executive with over 27 years of experience in complex service delivery markets, his background includes physician practice management, managed care, and health care consulting. At Molina Healthcare, (NYSE:MOH), Mr. Kim initially served as the President of Molina Medical Group responsible for the strategic direction and operations in California, and then leveraged the operational foundation into a national expansion effort as the corporate vice president for direct delivery. Before Molina Healthcare, Mr. Kim was a Senior Vice President of Operations for Team Health (NYSE:TMH), a hospital-based clinical outsourcing company, overseeing the operations and business expansion of emergency and hospitalist medicine services. Mr. Kim also founded two companies: Grok Consulting, which assisted hospitalist and care transition companies with acquisition integration and operations start-up; and NeoMED, a mobile cardiovascular imaging company that serviced 1 million managed care enrollees. Mr. Kim also held management positions with Medpartners/Caremark, Children's Hospital Los Angeles, KPMG Peat Marwick, and Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Mr. Kim graduated with a Master of Health Science from the John Hopkins School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of California Berkeley. He serves on boards of the Partners in Care Foundation, an organization focused on bringing more efficient and effective health and social services to diverse people and communities, and the Koreatown Youth and Community Center in Los Angeles.

Kevin Ellis, DO, Chief Medical Officer
Kevin Ellis, DO., joined Cigna Medical Group as its Chief Medical Officer in February of 2013. He has been a practicing physician for over 25 years and has served in medical leadership positions for 20 years. Prior to joining CMG, Dr. Ellis served as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Medical Officer for North County Health Services (NCHS), a large Federally Qualified Health Center located in San Diego, California. NCHS serves low income uninsured and underinsured patients offering primary care services including dental care. NCHS is recognized as a level three Patient Centered Medical Home from the National Commission for Quality Assurance.

Dr. Ellis has extensive experience in the managed health care and practice management arenas having served as Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer for a national physician practice management company. Dr. Ellis is a Board Certified family physician.

Cigna Medical Group Medical Directors

Andrea Houfek, MD, Medical Director, Primary Care and Pediatrics
Andrea Houfek, M.D., is the medical director for urgent and pediatric practice groups at Cigna Medical Group. She is responsible for development, management and leadership of all aspects of the urgent care pediatric medicine departments. This includes quality of care programs, process improvement, project implementation, operational management and clinical oversight.

Houfek joined the practice in 1987 and was a practicing pediatrician for 15 years before taking on the role of pediatric department chair. She soon added the role of primary care medical director.

Houfek obtained her undergraduate degree from the University of Wyoming and earned her doctorate of medicine with honors from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She completed her internship and residency with Phoenix Hospitals Affiliated Pediatric Program and served as chief resident prior to joining Cigna Medical Group.

Houfek is a Fellow with the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and a member of the steering committee for The Arizona Partnership for Immunizations (TAPI).

Robert Flores, MD, Medical Director, Population Health Management
Robert Flores, M.D., is the medical director for population health management at Cigna Medical Group. He manages a department with responsibilities including quality initiatives for Cigna Medical Group, regulatory and quality oversight for Medicare, physician-specific excellence programs, Healthcare Effectiveness Data and Information Set (HEDIS) compliance, diabetes and health education programs, wellness strategies, care coordination, research and management of our hospitalist program.

Prior to joining the practice in 2001, Flores held positions as a private family and sports medicine practitioner, medical director for a major league baseball team, and as founder, president and medical director of a successful physician Independent Practice Association.

Flores earned his undergraduate degree from Arizona State University and his doctorate of medicine from the University of Colorado School of Medicine. He completed his residency in family practice at Scottsdale Memorial Hospital.

Flores is Board Certified and a member of the American and Arizona Academies of Family Medicine.
