RediClinic to Offer CIGNA Healthcare Members Choice and Convenience at Local Retail Outlets

Now Available in Select Walgreens, Wal-Mart and H-E-B Stores

Building on CIGNA's successful affiliation with MinuteClinic retail medical clinics located in local CVS stores around the nation, effective May 1, 2007 CIGNA is adding a new relationship with another clinic: RediClinic LLC. This relationship will offer more convenient, quality and cost-efficient health care options for ever-busy CIGNA HealthCare members in the South and Southwestern United States.

RediClinic treats most common ailments such as strep throat, pink eye, and sinus infections, as well as certain immunizations and routine physicals. Run by highly-qualified nurse practitioners, charges for RediClinic visits will be handled the same as primary care physician office visits. All Get Well services at RediClinic are priced at $59. Therefore, a member with a 20 percent coinsurance who accesses a service of $59 would pay only $11.80 for a visit, assuming their deductible has been met. RediClinic outlets are located at various Walgreens, Wal-Mart, and H-E-B stores in Atlanta, Georgia, Northwest Arkansas, Richmond, Virginia, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Texas markets including Houston, San Antonio, and Austin.

RediClinic in-store centers are open seven days a week with weekday evening hours. No appointment is necessary and patient visits usually take about 15 minutes. With the member's permission, treatment and screening results are shared with the member's primary care physician to help ensure that a member's medical record is kept up to date and that any needed follow-up treatment can be developed by the primary care physician.

“Today’s health care consumer has an increasingly hectic schedule. With RediClinic they can have the convenience, quick pace, and cost-efficient solution to having their minor ailments taken care of by a certified nurse practitioner, even if it is on their lunch break or on a weekend,” said Dr. Allen Woolf, a pediatrician and national medical executive for CIGNA HealthCare. “Because their records from RediClinic are sent to their primary care physician, members have the peace of mind of knowing that everyone is on the same page concerning their health care,” added Dr. Woolf.

CIGNA HealthCare was among the first health insurance companies to embrace the idea of retail health care centers, announcing member coverage at MinuteClinic, Inc.’s health care center locations in January of 2006. Much like RediClinic, MinuteClinic health care centers are located in retail stores and offer fast and affordable health care for routine ailments. MinuteClinic health care centers are now available in 19 states, and can be found in CVS Pharmacy and other retail locations.

The addition of RediClinic to the CIGNA HealthCare network of providers underscores CIGNA HealthCare’s commitment to expanding the company’s broad suite of consumer-focused products and services, which are designed to help members achieve their personal health goals.
