"We’re very pleased that Eric
has chosen to return to CIGNA. He brings
a depth of experience to this role that makes
him ideally suited to lead our pharmacy benefits
management business,” said
Cordani. "His varied business background
in health care and pharmacy management experience
will enhance our ability to help improve
the health care of our members, while his
aggressive and innovative business leadership
will help clients and members obtain the
maximum value from their pharmacy benefits."
Elliott’s
career spans more than two decades of senior
leadership experience in the health care
industry where he helped companies grow by
creating new business while accelerating
growth within existing businesses. Most recently,
he held senior executive positions at Aetna,
leading their pharmacy and limited benefit/voluntary
businesses. Prior to that, he ran product,
sales and e-business for CIGNA Pharmacy Management
while leading CIGNA's Tel-Drug business.
He also held leadership roles at PCS HealthSystems
and Rite Aid Corporation.
In accepting the position, Elliott said, "It's
a pleasure to come back and work with such
dedicated and committed people who have worked
to put CPM on the leading edge of developing
real pharmacy benefit alternatives. CIGNA
was among the first pharmacy benefit management
(PBM) companies to adopt three-tier formularies
to provide member choice in selecting medications,
and one of the first PBMs to develop integrated
medical, pharmacy and behavioral programs
that increase medication compliance while
controlling costs."
Elliott received his bachelor's degree in
management and finance and an MBA degree
with a focus in accounting and marketing
from Temple University in Philadelphia. He
lives in Avon, CT with his wife and three
children.
