Peter B. Welch, President and General Manager
Peter Welch is the President and Market Leader for CIGNA HealthCare of California, Inc. He joined CIGNA HealthCare as the Vice President of Sales for the northern California region in December, 2000, and was promoted to his current position, which includes the state of Hawaii, in January, 2003.

Prior to joining CIGNA HealthCare, Peter served as the Regional Sales Director for United HealthCare and Uniprise. During his five-year tenure with the company, he held numerous sales and sales management positions. In addition, Peter spent nearly 11 years with The Travelers Insurance Company. He was the Regional Sales Director for The Travelers Insurance Company in California, managing the small employer segment for the western region, and prior to that, was responsible for The Travelers Pacific Northwest region.

Peter is on the Board of Directors for Buckelew Programs, a community-based non-profit organization that provides low-income housing for those suffering from mental illness. He is also a Board member of the California Association of Health Plans and the Integrated HealthCare Association. He is a graduate of the University of California at Riverside.
