SOUTH CAROLINA EDITION
Legislative Update
The 116th South Carolina General Assembly
ended the two-year legislative session by
adjourning sine die on June 1. The Assembly
will return on June 14 for a three-day limited-agenda
session to handle vetoes, conference committee
reports, and similar matters. Among the bills
which passed both chambers and sent to Governor
Mark Sanford (R) was H.B. 3711, entitled
the “Prescription Drug Discount Card
Registration Act.” The industry successfully
defeated H.B. 4351 would have required
insurance coverage for treatment of pervasive
developmental disorders, including autism
and Asperger’s syndrome, H.B. 3729
would have established health care provider
liens and S.B. 53, a prompt pay bill.
