New Wellness Director
at CIGNA International Looks for Ways
to Improve Expatriates' Health
CIGNA International announced that Danielle
Rizk of Philadelphia will lead the medical
team and set the direction of the health
services and wellness programs provided
to expatriates.
Previously,
Rizk was vice president of international
services for Methodist Health Care System
in Houston and director of planning and
marketing for Rizk Hospital in Beirut,
Lebanon, where she says she "grew
up in health care" at her family's
hospital.
"My vision is to continue to build
on our mission to serve as health advocates
for our expatriates by developing wellness
programs that enhance their health while
on assignment," Rizk says. "We
want members to feel fully prepared in
terms of their health care needs and
choices even before they leave their
home country, and to have access to the
tools necessary to maximize their own
and their family's health and well-being
at all times."
Among Rizk's immediate priorities are
enhancements to the expatriate member
web site and access to CIGNA HealthCare
programs such as Healthy Rewards® for
discounts on memberships to Weight Watchers® and
Jenny Craig worldwide.
Long-term initiatives on Rizk's radar
screen include programs that proactively
address chronic diseases and enhance
wellness. For example, expatriates often
view their assignment as a "good
time to start or grow a family," according
to Rizk, and she will consider developing
a maternity management program customized
to the needs of expatriates.
Rizk holds a master of business administration
(MBA) degree in International Management
and Marketing from Rice University in
Houston, Texas and a post-graduate degree
in Health Care Administration from George
Washington University in Washington,
D.C. She is fluent in English and French,
and conversational in Arabic and Spanish.
