CIGNA was recently honored by being listed number
17 on this year’s Information Week 500 – making
CIGNA the highest-ranking insurance company on
the list. The annual ranking recognizes the
power of innovation in business technology among
companies with at least $500 million in annual
revenue.
As top insurer on the list, CIGNA was awarded “Innovative
Leader in the Insurance Industry. “ The number
17 spot is CIGNA's highest placement ever since
the ranking began 18 years ago. CIGNA also
received an award for Information Security, which
was a key driver in the overall ranking. The
award recognized CIGNA's achievement of a delicate
balance between access to health information and
protection of sensitive data. Chief Information
Protection Officer Craig Shumard accepted the awards
for CIGNA – the only company to receive two
awards at the Information Week ceremonies,
held September 8 in Palm Springs, California.
Scott Storrer, who leads IT and Service Operations,
hailed the awards as a shared, CIGNA-wide honor: “This
is a recognition of CIGNA's investments in cultural
and process improvements, strong connections between
IT and product management, Six Sigma innovations,
and outstanding leadership at all levels of CIGNA.”
