CIGNA, HopeLab Promote Youth Physical Activity
Ruckus Nation Competition Highlighted During 2007 Health Awareness Tour
Earlier
this month, the Trust for America's Health released a study that found
obesity rates continued to climb in 31 states last year, with no state
showing a decline. Lack
of physical activity is a key factor – and one that CIGNA and
HopeLab are working together to find new and effective ways to address.
Following the very successful joint promotion of Re-Mission™,
CIGNA is again working with HopeLab to bring innovative ideas to life
to engage young people in their health.
During the Tour, which ran from September 10 through 21, CIGNA worked
hand-in-hand with HopeLab to promote Ruckus Nation. Through this online
competition, HopeLab is asking people across the country to submit
product ideas that will increase physical activity among middle-school-aged
kids (ages 11 to 14). Panels of judges will pick winning ideas in four
competition categories, and HopeLab will develop, test, and distribute
effective products based on the best ideas. More than $300,000 in cash
and prizes will be awarded for the winning ideas.
CIGNA will support Ruckus National several ways. Health Awareness Tour
riders and volunteers talked about the competition with the people
they met while on the road. They were able to share information about
Ruckus Nation and encourage people to submit ideas. CIGNA will also
promote Ruckus Nation through our website. HopeLab representatives
also participated in a number of the Tour events.
Learn how to participate in Ruckus Nation by visiting the competition’s
website at www.ruckusnation.com.
Competition registration opens September 18, 2007, and
the deadline for entries is November 20, 2007. Winners
will be announced in March 2008.
