Legislative Update

Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley (D) has appointed Ralph Tyler to serve as Insurance Commissioner to replace Interim Commissioner Peggy Watson. Commissioner Tyler previously served as the Chief Legal Counsel to the Governor. Prior to the tenure as the governor's counsel, the commissioner was the Executive Director of the governor's transition team, served as the Baltimore City Solicitor (2004-2007), worked at the firm of Hogan & Hartson, LLP (1996-2004), and worked for the Attorney General's Office (1982-1996).
