2007 Transition of Care Policy for Current and New Enrollees

CIGNATURE Rx wants to ensure that our beneficiaries, either new or existing members, safely transition into the 2007 plan year. Beneficiaries' ability to receive a drug he or she is currently taking may be limited if it requires exception review and authorization before it can be filled due to prior authorization, quantity limits, step therapy requirements, or when confirmation of member's clinical history is needed.

We encourage our network pharmacists to communicate the temporary nature of the transitional supply while dispensing medication covered under the transition period. Further, any assistance to transition medications to the appropriate formulary alternatives would help reduce potential treatment disruptions after the transitional period.
