2006 Health Awareness Tour

In 2006, the CIGNA Health Awareness Tour bicycling team rode 400 miles from Washington, D.C. to Bloomfield, Connecitcut, home to CIGNA's largest operations site. The team talked to people along the way about addressing health challenges and creating personal solutions to lead to better health. Below are photos from the 2006 Tour.

  • Washington, D.C., (August 21, 2006): The Health Awareness Tour team cycled to the National Mall, where they distributed "commitment cards," encouraging people to make a pledge to lead healthier lives.

  • Philadelphia, PA, (August 22, 2006): Starting before the crack of dawn (4:00 a.m. to be precise), the team rode 156 miles to CIGNA's headquarters in Philadelphia and competed in CIGNA's first-ever Bicycle Tire-Changing Contest with employees and senior leaders.

  • New York, N.Y., (August 23, 2006):The Health Awareness Tour team rode 100-mile ride to New York City, where CIGNA HealthCare President David Cordani, joined by the entire Health Awareness Tour team, rang The Closing BellSM at the New York Stock Exchange.

  • Bloomfield, CT, (August 24, 2006): After cycling the final 110 from New York miles to CIGNA HealthCare headquarters in Bloomfield, Connecticut, the team was welcomed by employees and Sydney Schulman, the Mayor of Bloomfield, who proclaimed August 24 "Bloomfield Health Awareness Day." Connecitucut Governor Jodi Rell, also proclaimed August 24 as "Health Awareness Day" in the state of Connecticut.
