Riding The Tour in California
Riding out of Richmond, VA
Motivation for joining The Tour I love to ride and I think there’s a vast number of people out there who do too, but aren’t. Almost everyone has a bike and everyone knows how much fun it is.  I hope the Tour inspires someone to pump up the tires and go for a ride.  If not that then I hope it inspires someone to do something healthy that they already enjoy doing.  Make it a passion and feel the results physically and mentally.
Reasons for adopting an active lifestyle

I am really motivated by what I love to do.  For me and many people I know, personal health is a means to an end, not the end itself.  Health is just the way I get to do what I like to do at a level that I find exciting. That in turn is great for my mental well being. It’s a motivation that feeds on itself.

I had a few years where I let my physical health slip when I was in business school at night, working and starting a family.  I put on weight and I wished I could be physically healthier, but that’s not enough motivation to sustain.

A few years ago a trip to Aspen CO for my college roommate’s wedding pushed me to get in shape so I could ride in one of the most beautiful settings in the world. That desire got me back on the bike and became a short term goal focused not on health but on having fun.  I still stick to that – I have fun by going faster and farther.

Why a healthy lifestyle is important It makes me a better husband and parent.
One piece of advice to help others live a healthier life Do something healthy that you already enjoy doing.  Find other people who enjoy the same thing.  Pursue your passion with fervor.
