I followed the Health Awareness Tour in 2006 on the intranet everyday and believed in the mission of the tour. I am looking forward to the people that we will meet throughout the tour - my teammates, other CIGNA employees and the people that we meet along the route.
Reasons for adopting an active lifestyle
I have always been active, playing sports through my childhood and then trying different activities as I got older. In 2000 I saw a picture of myself that a friend had taken and was surprised at the person I was looking at. I realized at that moment that I was not as healthy as I should be and as I wanted to be. I committed to adopting healthier eating habits as well as committing to adding a regular exercise program to my life. I reached my goals nine months later.
Why a healthy lifestyle is important
I have also found that living a healthy lifestyle from eating well to being physically fit plays a large part in my mental well-being as well as my physical well-being. It also has enabled me to participate in a wide variety of activities as well, not only riding.
One piece of advice to help others live a healthier life
Set small goals for your self, once they are achieved add to them. You will be amazed at how quickly many small changes can become a way of life.
