Motivation for joining The Tour Show individuals the benefits of exercise and diet and the impact it can have on health care costs in the U.S. Personally prove that anyone can get in shape and enjoy being healthy. Help raise awareness of the major problem of childhood obesity, and talk with parents about ways to help get their children active. Accomplish a major endurance challenge.
Reasons for adopting an active lifestyle I danced from the age of 3 to 18, played volleyball and ran track in high school and went on to play volleyball in college. For me being active has been part of life since I was young and without it I feel like something is missing. The older I get, the more motivation I have to be successful with the activities that I do. This has led me to find a competitive adult volleyball team, to train for a triathlon, and to take up running in races.
Why a healthy lifestyle is important Aside from exercise, I try to eat healthy. I do have my moments of eating 3 pieces of cheesecake in one sitting or perhaps a pint of ice cream. I don't think I would be human if I didn't. I find that I have more energy and feel much better about myself, however, when I decide to maintain a healthy diet.
One piece of advice to help others live a healthier life Begin slowly. It is hard to stick to a diet or exercise program if it requires drastically changing your lifestyle. Make simple changes in your diet, switch to whole wheat bread and whole wheat pasta. Watch your portions, most Americans eat a larger portion than needed. Start walking for an hour after work 3 times a week, or try walking on your lunch break. Pack your lunch, it's almost always healthier than what you will buy at the fast food joint around the corner, not to mention cheaper. Take small steps to a healthier life.
