I wanted to do something to challenge myself and at the same time, do something for a cause. I am looking forward to meeting lots of people and talking about wellness and a healthy lifestyle. I haven't ridden a bike since high school until I was selected for this tour!
Reasons for adopting an active lifestyle
I became active and started eating healthier about two years ago. I was extremely stressed at work, and in general, unhappy. I had no energy to do anything and I was eating fast food all the time. CIGNA's Employee Assistance Program suggested that I might feel better if I got a little exercise. I started swimming but could barely swim the length of the pool. Within a couple weeks, I could swim farther and I was feeling better. I started to slowly change my diet and eventually joined Weight Watchers. Now, 2 years later, I am a lifetime Weight Watchers member and I swim almost 2 miles, 6 days a week!
