I thrive on personal interaction with others and delight in seizing a teachable moment in speaking with someone in person to educate and encourage them. I was once sedentary myself and it wasn't until another person shared some encouragement and knowledge with me that I finally took action to become physically active. I want to provide the same inspiration to others.
Reasons for adopting an active lifestyle
My father lived the majority of his life being very sedentary and with a poor diet. As a result, his behavior finally caught up to him and he developed diabetes. I watched his health deteriorate and it was frightening. I didn't want to end up in the same place. Fortunately, he took action by improving his diet and getting active. As a result, his health and quality of life improved and he inspired me to do the same in the process.
Why a healthy lifestyle is important
I have learned by experience how much a healthy lifestyle greatly improves my overall quality of life. I strive each day to do the best I can to take care of myself. When I make those efforts, I reap the rewards of a positive life outlook, decreased stress, reducing risks for various diseases, better sleep and improved well being.
One piece of advice to help others live a healthier life
Small changes make a big difference! Often we need to start simply with baby steps. If you can make an effort to incorporate changes like drinking more water or parking your car farther out in into the parking lot to get some extra walking in, you'll start to notice some positive changes and be encouraged to keep the momentum going.
