Motivation for joining The Tour I lost about 80 pounds about 13 years ago and that made me passionate about helping other people achieve their personal fitness goals, whether it's to just get healthier, lose 100 pounds or do their first race! Everyone has different fitness levels and different goals, all of equal importance. Most health issues are a result of personal choices and I want to encourage people to make slow, health changes.
Reasons for adopting an active lifestyle I let myself go in my early 20s, and became overweight and depressed. I started doing step aerobics classes and was quickly addicted. I dropped the weight, continued to progress in working out and got back into athletics. Eating right and working out makes you feel great!
Why a healthy lifestyle is important There are a lot of things in life you cannot control, but a healthy lifestyle is all up to you. I want to live a quality life, without my friends and family ever having to take care of me. Besides, it is so much fun!
One piece of advice to help others live a healthier life First, make up your mind that you are going to live healthier. Surround yourself with healthy people and it will become contagious. Find someone to whom you are accountable and be honest with yourself and that person. Set goals and stay with them until they are achieved. Take the word "quit" out of your vocabulary.
