Is CIGNA HealthCare in full compliance with the HIPAA regulations?
Yes. CIGNA HealthCare has been in compliance since the October 16, 2003 effective date.
How is CIGNA HealthCare handling non-compliant claims and other transactions?
At this point, almost all claims and other transactions from providers are SNIP Type 1-4 compliant. Any non-compliant transactions are rejected back to the provider for correction.
How does CIGNA HealthCare log all disclosures of protected health information (PHI) as required by the Accounting of Disclosures Section?
We have a tracking system that enables us to track disclosures and to provide this information upon request to members.
Providers also need to be prepared to share an accounting of disclosures they have made outside of treatment, payment or health care operations.
Does CIGNA HealthCare provide billing software/implementation or companion guides?
CIGNA HealthCare is not in the provider billing software/implementation business. CIGNA's transaction specifications are made known to providers via the provider's vendor or clearinghouse.
