PPO
Self-directed health care
Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plans allow members to visit any provider. They don't choose a primary care physician (PCP) to coordinate their care and treatment, and they don't need a referral to see a specialist.
Your patients may have one of these CIGNA HealthCare PPO plans:
- PPOmembers have both in-network and out-of-network coverage. You're responsible for filing the claim form; you're also responsible for obtaining precertification for all in-network services that require it.
- EPOmembers have in-network benefits only, except in emergency and urgent care situations. You're responsible for obtaining precertification for all in-network services that require it.
In addition to their PPO plan, members may also have a CIGNA Choice Fund®an employer- or employee-funded account that can be used to pay for qualified health care expenses.
