Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA)
What is Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA)?
Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA), or the 835, is the HIPAA-compliant detailed explanation of how a submitted health care claim was processed.
What are the benefits of ERA?
ERA can help improve your business office workflow and productivity. The ERA can be automatically loaded into your accounts receivable system, which can:
- Help reduce costs
- Save time
- Reduce posting errors
- Shorten the payment cycle
How can I start receiving ERAs?
- Request the Cigna registration form from your Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) vendor or Post-n-Track®1
- Return the completed registration form to your EDI vendor or Post-n-Track®
Your EDI vendor or Post-n-Track® will send the completed form to Cigna for processing. Cigna will finalize your registration within 10 business days of receiving it. You may begin receiving an ERA on the next payment cycle.
1Post-n-Track® web service is available at no cost to Cigna health care professionals. To enroll, contact Post-n-Track® at 860.257.2030, or visit https://www.Post-n-Track.com/Enroll . For the latest information on our EDI vendors and the transactions they support, visit www.Cigna.com/EDIvendors.
Enrolling in both ERA and Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT) can help shorten your payment cycle. Learn more about EFT.
