What is Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA)?
Electronic Remittance Advice (ERA), or the 835, is the HIPAA-compliant detailed explanation of how a submitted health care claim was processed.

What are the benefits of ERA?
ERA can help improve your business office workflow and productivity. The ERA is automatically loaded into your accounts receivable system, which can:

• Help reduce costs
• Save time
• Reduce posting errors
• Shorten the payment cycle

How can I start receiving ERAs?
If you wish to receive ERAs, simply:

• Request the Cigna registration form from your clearinghouse or Post-N-Track^™*.
• Return the completed registration form to your clearinghouse or Post-N-Track.

The clearinghouse or Post-N-Track will send the completed form to Cigna for processing. Cigna will finalize your registration within 20 business days of receiving it. You may begin receiving an ERA on the next payment cycle.
