Dr. Georgeanna Klingensmith reviews medical content for Healthwise, a nonprofit organization with a mission to help people make better health decisions. Dr. Klingensmith is a professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. She also is the Director of Pediatric Clinics at the Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes and the Children's Hospital in Denver, Colorado. Dr. Klingensmith is a recognized expert in the field of type 1 and type 2 diabetes in children. She is a recipient of several research grants from the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and other organizations. In addition, she has been a presenter at numerous local and national diabetes conferences. Dr. Klingensmith has received several awards, including the ADA National Award for Outstanding Contributions to Diabetes in Youth. She received the ADA Women of Valor Award in 2002 and has been included in The Best Doctors in America since 1993.
