Rehabilitation Programs for Low Back Problems

Topic Overview

Rehabilitation programs are designed to help people recover from low back pain problems. They teach people how to care for their backs and prevent reinjury. They can also help people who have long-term (chronic) pain learn ways to deal with their pain (and with situations that make pain worse). Types of rehabilitation programs include:

  • Pain clinics or pain management programs.
  • Back schools.
  • Physical rehabilitation programs.
  • Sports medicine or rehabilitation programs.

These programs may be connected with a hospital, clinic, or medical center.
