Dr. W. Stewart Agras reviews medical content for Healthwise, a nonprofit organization with a mission to help people make better health decisions. His primary research interest is the area of behavior change, including compliance, essential hypertension and other cardiovascular risk factors, and eating and anxiety disorders. Dr. Agras was one of the early leaders in the field of behavior therapy. He established one of the first behavioral medicine programs in the country that continues today at Stanford University in Stanford, California. Dr. Agras became the founding President of the Society for Behavioral Medicine and is a past President of the Association for the Advancement of Behavior Therapy.
