Chlamydia is the most common sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the United States. About 3 million people are infected with chlamydia every year.1
Reported rates of the illness are higher in women than in men. But experts assume that of all new cases, half occur in men and half occur in women. Most people with chlamydia are not aware that they are infected and do not seek testing.1
