CIGNA Term Life Insurance

Choices: worry, or plan. Planning's better.

People have concerns about how loved ones would fare if something happened. People worry about family financial security. Concerns such as if a spouse will be able to keep the home; children will be able to afford college; how the bills will get paid.

Life insurance allows people to replace worry with planning … solid financial planning to protect loved ones when a family member is no longer there to do so.

Like savings, and investments, and homeownership, life insurance is an essential part of financial planning. But unlike those other things, which rely on time and continuity and steady presence - life insurance guards against the unexpected … against the sudden interruption of plans … against loss.

With CIGNA life insurance, members can create a "safety net" for their family by selecting life plans that will provide the resources for them to carry on.

Term Life Insurance Offers Powerful Protection

Term Life offers valuable coverage during a period of greatest need - while members are still working and earning an income and building for the future.

CIGNA offers a variety of valuable benefit options that an employer may choose to offer individually or in combination. These options include:

  • Terminal-Illness Benefit
If a family member is identified as having a life expectancy of 12 months or less, this benefit provides for a payment of up to half of the coverage amount — while the member is still living with no restrictions on how this money is used.
  • Waiver of Premium
If the member becomes permanently disabled before age 60 and remain disabled for at least nine months, this benefit will pay the premiums while the member remains disabled, up to age 65, once we have approved the benefit. If the member qualifies for this benefit and has also insured a spouse or children, the premium for their coverage will be waived, too.
  • Policy Conversion
With this benefit, if a member's group life coverage is reduced or ends for any reason (except nonpayment of premiums), the member can convert to an individual whole life policy, with no medical evidence of insurability needed.
  • Portability
A member can continue the insurance coverage when they leave the company or when retired, with no medical evidence of insurability needed.
  • Automatic-Increase Option
To help a member's life insurance keep up with their earning power, this benefit increases life coverage as the member's salary increases, up to a maximum of $25,000 over the previous coverage amount, with no medical evidence of insurability needed.
  • Plus information on Estate Planning, Identity Theft Information Kit, and CIGNA's Life and Disability Planning Kits

All these options are designed to help maintain the protection need for members and their loved ones. Ask your employer for further details about the member insurance plan options.
