Questions to ask yourself before you enroll
Choosing a health insurance plan is one of the most important decisions you’ll make. To prepare, ask yourself:
What do I need from my health plan?
Think about your health history and how things might change in the upcoming year. Do you go to the doctor a lot? Are you planning to have a baby? Thinking about the services you need will help you determine what type of coverage you should have.
What is my health care budget?
Figure out how much you spend on health care costs each year, including doctor visits and prescriptions. It will help you identify the plan that makes the most sense for you.
Is my doctor part of the Cigna network?
It’s easy to check to see if your doctor is part of our national network. Some plans require you to use an in-network doctor, while others allow you to see any doctor. Keep in mind that even if your plan includes in-and out-of-network coverage, it usually costs less to see in-network doctors and go to in-network facilities.
What health care expenses are covered?
Find out if your prescription drugs are covered or what other health care expenses are covered, such as emergency care, surgeries and laboratory tests.
