Understanding Health Care Reform: Gap Coverage for 2011

2011 brings changes that will help you save money when you fill a prescription in the Coverage Gap Stage. This year, you will pay 93% coinsurance of your covered generic Part D drugs and receive a discount on most brand name drugs– versus having to pay 100% in 2010. This is an exciting change that will help take a big "bite" out of the doughnut hole. If you are already receiving "Extra Help" these changes do not apply since you already receive coverage in the gap.

CIGNA Medicare Rx Plan Two (PDP) provides further savings and peace of mind with additional gap coverage for select generics at a $0 copay in the coverage gap.

Two simple plans.

Review plan information, including cost sharing (coinsurance/copayments), premiums, and deductibles

.

Plan One - For people who are looking for a lower premium pharmacy plan, with low copays for most drugs to provide predictable costs after the deductible is met. Provides broad drug coverage, many generic drugs at very low copay, and "standard" gap coverage.**

Plan Two - For people who want a moderate premium plan with expanded drug coverage and the greatest potential for predictable out-of-pocket costs. No deductible and $0 copay for some generics, including medications for high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol and thyroid therapy. In addition, low copays for other generics and preferred brand drugs. In the gap, there is $0 copay coverage for some generics, and the "standard" gap coverage for other covered Part D drugs.** Click here to learn more about Plan Two.

**The Health Care Reform mandated gap coverage where members receive a discount for brand name drugs and pay 93% of generic drug costs (does not apply if you are receiving Extra Help).
