Cigna Teams with HopeLab to Help Children with Chronic Illnesses

As a company committed to helping improve the health, well-being, and security of those we serve, Cigna HealthCare actively pursues opportunities to help members become more engaged in their health in new and innovative ways. This commitment is behind our arrangement with HopeLab, a non-profit organization to deliver innovative solutions that help improve the health and quality of life of young people with chronic illnesses.
The first joint initiative between Cigna HealthCare and HopeLab involves offering teens and young adults with cancer a free computer video game called Re-MissionTM. This game - developed by HopeLab - helps young people increase their understanding of cancer while giving them a greater sense of power and control over their disease.
We're also supporting HopeLab's efforts to research and develop additional solutions to help young patients with other health conditions, such as obesity. Today's youth in America face a discouraging reality: If health trends among this population continue unchanged, they may become the first generation of children not expected to outlive their parents. This is the driving force behind Ruckus Nation - an online competition sponsored by HopeLab to get ideas on how to fight childhood obesity. Through Ruckus Nation people of all ages can submit ideas for increasing physical activity among middle-school-aged kids. HopeLab will develop, test and launch the best ideas.
