Overview

CIGNA Medicare Access Plus Rx® plans are Medicare Advantage Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) medical plans with Part D prescription drug coverage.

One of the reasons that these plans are so popular is because you can choose your own doctor. The plan offered by the State Health Benefit Plan includes prescription coverage and CIGNA Medicare Access Plus Rx is easy to use. You don't need referrals, and CIGNA coordinates all your medical and pharmacy claims, with virtually no paperwork.

Plan Options

CIGNA Medicare Access Plus Rx plans offer two plans exclusively to SHBP 65+ retirees: The Standard Plan and the Premium Plan.

  • Our Standard Plan features a lower monthly premium than the Premium plan, but somewhat higher hospital costs and medical copays. This may be a good choice for people who visit their doctor for routine checkups and preventive care.
  • Our Premium Plan has lower hospital costs and doctor copays but the monthly premium is higher than the Standard plan. This may be a good choice for people with conditions requiring more frequent medical care.

Both plans feature:

  • Freedom to see any doctor - so no networks and no referrals are needed
  • Low premiums and copays when visiting the doctor or hospital
  • Unlimited hospital coverage
  • Real protection against high medical bills
  • Nationwide coverage and worldwide emergency coverage
  • Eye and hearing exams and hardware
  • No deductible for prescriptions which means you are covered starting Jan. 1, 2010 - without the 'coverage gap' or 'doughnut hole' worry.

No Doctor Networks!

When you become a member, you'll be able to obtain services from any Medicare-approved doctor or medical provider-as long as he or she agrees to CIGNA's terms and conditions of payment.

We've provided a simple leaflet to help you talk with your doctor (PDF 77k) about the plan. Simply show your CIGNA ID card every time you receive services.
