President, Government Business
Brian Evanko is President of Cigna’s Government Business segment, which includes Cigna-HealthSpring (CHS), Individual & Family Plans (IFP) and Cigna Supplemental Benefits (CSB). Brian also leads CareAllies (CA), a provider services and population health solutions company dedicated to helping health care provider partners accelerate their transition to value-based care. He is responsible for profitably growing each of these business segments, covering products such as Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Part D Pharmacy, Medicare Supplement, Individual Medical, Dental and a variety of other supplemental health products. In 2017, more than two million customers and 250 physician groups and health system organizations were served by these businesses.
Most recently, Brian served as the President of Cigna’s U.S. Individual and Voluntary businesses. In this role, Brian led the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for Cigna's IFP business from 2013, and subsequently re-positioned the business due to evolving market conditions. Additionally, Brian led Cigna's individual supplemental business (CSB) to meaningful growth following Cigna's entrance into this market in 2012, resulting in more than doubling its customers and revenue in four years.
Prior to that, Brian served as Business Financial Officer for Cigna's Global Individual Health, Life and Accident operations based in Hong Kong and Singapore from 2009 to 2013. Brian has also held various roles across Cigna's U.S. and International businesses in Hartford, Conn., and Philadelphia, Penn.
Brian joined Cigna in 1998. He earned a bachelor’s degree in actuarial science from Pennsylvania State University and holds the FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) and CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) designations.
In 2018, Brian was named to the Board of Trustees for the Connecticut Science Center. He also has been instrumental in Cigna’s partnership with Achilles International, serving as a race guide for runners with disabilities since 2015, including Cigna’s sponsorship of the Walt Disney World and Marine Corp Marathons.
