When you decide to be an actuary, you decide to commit hundreds of hours and many years of your life to actuarial exams. And at the end of it all, what do you get? Well, quite a few things – a sense of achievement, a significant understanding of your chosen area of insurance, and exciting job prospects, to name a few. And three letters behind your name that signify you’re finally a member of the Society of Actuaries: ASA or FSA. And that means it’s time to have a celebration.
At least once a year, Cigna actuaries participate in the semi-famous Results Party, celebrating the achievements of the newest ASAs and FSAs.As a recent ASA or FSA, it’s tradition to host the party. You’ll choose a swanky location, come up with a party theme, and pick whatever other entertainment/games/DJs/Party Buses/etc. you would like. It’s your party – have fun! My own party was in Hartford’s Society Room, a converted bank that still has the original vault, and featured food, drinks, and after-party shenanigans at a bar down the street – an excellent way for myself and the other newly-credentialed actuaries to celebrate our achievement.
On the evening of the party, everyone is invited – current actuarial program members, program graduates, significant others, and families. It’s time to spend an evening (or a long night) celebrating! Time for food, drinks, dancing, conversation, and an excellent night. You’ve worked hard to get here – you deserve this.
And when it’s all over? No worries, because you’ll be back here next time around, celebrating more good news with the next group of freshly credentialed actuaries.
