The Operations Leadership Program Structure
The Operations Leadership Program (OLP) is a five-year, three-rotation program that offers unique professional development opportunities to high potential, early career individuals. . Through the program, associates will develop core leadership competencies and skillsets as contribute to key initiatives within Cigna's different service sites and internal organizations. Associates who participate in the OLP can expect to be encouraged and challenged as they develop into well-rounded, forward thinking, employees ready to take roles with increasing levels of scope and responsibility.
Associates who join the OLP are college graduates with less than three years of professional experience.. When hired into the program, new associates will participate in a multi-week training session during which they will learn about Cigna's corporate culture, business segments, and general operations. During training, associates will travel to multiple service sites around the country to gain an in-depth understanding of Cigna's operations and how the different business segments and departments support the greater organization. In addition, associates will have ample opportunities to exercise their new skills and network with program alumni and business leaders.
Toward the end of training, associates will join one of the three OLP workgroups, which help drive the ongoing maintenance, growth, and branding of the program. Workgroup involvement provides associates with the opportunity to have first-hand participation in program governance and development initiatives.
The assignment of first rotations also takes place during training.. Cigna and the OLP will guide and support each associate through the relocation process, transition, and integration into their new role and location. Each rotation typically lasts 18 months based on the type of role, the responsibilities it involves, and business needs. Program-led monthly meetings, mentorship alignments, and training opportunities ensure that new associates enjoy a rich experience throughout the length of their rotation. When their first rotation is completed, the OLP will continue to support and guide associates as they identify their second and third rotations based on personal and professional interest and skill.
At the end of the third rotation and upon completing all program requirements, associates will graduate from the program and receive recognition for their achievements and involvement. OLP graduates often find themselves in roles with expanded responsibilities that allow them to continue their professional development and make significant contributions to the company. Program alumni are encouraged to stay engaged with the program and mentor active associates. The OLP provides a sense of community and support while fostering professional and personal development and relationship building that sets the foundation for accelerated career growth.
