How should I take iron protein succinylate?
Use exactly as directed on the label, or as prescribed by your doctor.
Taking iron protein succinylate long-term or at high doses can cause excess iron to build-up in the body.
Shake the oral suspension (liquid) before you measure a dose. Use the dosing syringe provided, or use a medicine dose-measuring device (not a kitchen spoon).
You may take this medicine with food.
If desired, mix iron protein succinylate with water or fruit juice. Use a straw to drink the mixture, to avoid getting this medicine on your teeth.
When giving this medicine to a baby, you may mix the liquid with a small amount of infant formula for bottle-feeding.
Take your doses at regular intervals to keep a steady amount of iron in your body at all times.
Liquid iron medicine can cause temporary staining of your teeth. You may be able to reduce staining by brushing your teeth with baking soda. Ask your doctor about how to treat tooth stains in a child.
You will need frequent medical tests.
It may take up to 3 to 6 months before you receive the full benefit of taking iron protein succinylate. Your doctor will determine how long to treat you with this medicine.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
Do not stop taking this medicine without your doctor's advice.
