As of June 22, 2016, the Centers for Disease Control’s (CDC) Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP), issued a statement that the live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV) also known as the “nasal spray” flu vaccine should not be used during the 2017-2018 season because of its ineffectiveness against the flu virus. The ACIP continues to recommend annual flu vaccination with injectable flu vaccine products for everyone six months and older. Please discuss any questions you have with your doctor.
