You should not use this medicine if you have severe ulcerative colitis, or if you are unable to urinate.
Before you take hyoscyamine and phenyltoloxamine, tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, or a thyroid disorder.

Hyoscyamine and phenyltoloxamine is a combination medicine that is used to treat indigestion (upset stomach, gas, bloating), and to reduce stomach acid.
Hyoscyamine and phenyltoloxamine may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.

You should not use this medicine if you are allergic to hyoscyamine or phenyltoloxamine, or if:
- you have severe ulcerative colitis; or
- you are unable to urinate.
You may not be able to take this medicine if you have untreated or uncontrolled diseases such as glaucoma, asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, or a thyroid disorder.
Tell your doctor if you have or have had:
- a bladder obstruction or other urination problems;
- an enlarged prostate;
- ulcerative colitis;
- glaucoma;
- myasthenia gravis;
- liver or kidney disease;
- heart problems; or
- breathing problems.
Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Do not give this medicine to a child without medical advice.

Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Use the medicine exactly as directed.
If you break or open a hyoscyamine and phenyltoloxamine capsule, avoid inhaling the powder medicine inside the capsule.
Store at room temperature away from moisture, heat, and light.

Take your dose as soon as you can, but only if you are getting ready to eat a meal. If you skip a meal, skip the missed dose and wait until your next meal.
Do not take two doses at one time.

Avoid taking this medicine at the same time you take an antacid. Antacids can make it harder for your body to absorb hyoscyamine and phenyltoloxamine. You may take the antacid after you have taken hyoscyamine and phenyltoloxamine and eaten a meal.
Drinking alcohol with this medicine can cause side effects.
This medicine may cause blurred vision and may impair your reactions. Avoid driving or hazardous activity until you know how this medicine will affect you.
Avoid becoming overheated or dehydrated during exercise and in hot weather. This medicine can decrease sweating and you may be more prone to heat stroke.

Get emergency medical help if you have signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficult breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Stop using hyoscyamine and phenyltoloxamine and call your doctor at once if you have:
- pounding heartbeats or fluttering in your chest;
- severe stomach cramps or constipation;
- little or no urination;
- confusion, memory problems, slurred speech;
- diarrhea; or
- problems with balance or muscle movement.
Side effects such as dry mouth, constipation, and confusion may be more likely in older adults.
Common side effects may include:
- dizziness, drowsiness;
- constipation;
- decreased sweating, decreased urination;
- dry mouth;
- blurred vision; or
- impotence, loss of interest in sex, or trouble having an orgasm.

Using hyoscyamine and phenyltoloxamine with other drugs that make you drowsy can worsen this effect. Ask your doctor before using opioid medication, a sleeping pill, a muscle relaxer, or medicine for anxiety or seizures.
Tell your doctor about all your other medicines, especially:
- medicine to treat depression, anxiety, mood disorders, or mental illness;
- cold or allergy medicine (Benadryl and others);
- medicine to treat Parkinson's disease;
- medicine to treat stomach problems, motion sickness, or irritable bowel syndrome;
- medicine to treat overactive bladder; or
- bronchodilator asthma medication.
