29 August 2011

BLOOMFIELD, Conn., August 29, 2011 - Cigna (NYSE:CI) announced today that it is temporarily lifting certain medical and pharmacy restrictions in order to aid its customers affected by Hurricane Irene.

People insured by Cigna in all areas affected by Hurricane Irene may refill lost or damaged prescriptions early without prior approval and access urgent care from any health care professional (in-network or out-of-network) at in-network benefit levels. In addition, Cigna is waiving prior authorization requirements for urgent hospital admissions, medical and dental care as well access to needed specialists.

"The health and well-being of the individuals we serve is our primary concern," said Susan Gaca, Director of the Cigna Disaster Response Team. "We hope that during such difficult times, these actions will help provide some relief to those impacted."

These temporary measures are in place until Friday, September 2.

All Cigna customer service centers are operational. Customers with questions or concerns are encouraged to call the customer service phone number on their Cigna ID card or the Cigna nationwide customer service telephone number at 1.800.Cigna24 (1.800.244.6224) for additional information about the waivers.
