Ian, Current Role: Customer Relations Performance Manager
Length of time with the company: 16 years
“I have worked for Cigna since leaving school. During this time I have been given the opportunity to learn many skills and develop my career. Having progressed through the claims and customer relations teams, to team management, I have now put these skills to good use managing the complaints section.
Cigna provided me with the platform that I needed to grow and build a successful career.”
Alex, Current Role: Claims Assessor
Length of time with the company: Three years
“Having worked in the Plymouth office for three years, it has always been a very professional and friendly environment to work in. I started as a Customer Sales Advisor, after which I was successfully promoted to the Travel Claims Department. I am currently employed as a Travel Claims Assessor.
I am working towards a development plan put in place by Cigna to help me acquire a management position in the company. Prior to joining Cigna, I completed my GCSE’s and A Levels. As Cigna is constantly growing, there are always excellent opportunities and progression routes for you to take to help broaden your future career path.”
Amanda, Current Role: Nurse Manager
Length of time with Cigna: 11 years
“I qualified as a general nurse early in my career and spent time focusing on infectious diseases, orthopaedics, strokes and spinal injuries. When I first joined Cigna, I was responsible for taking calls from patients who were members of large corporate schemes. I was advising on their recommended treatments and ensuring that they were receiving appropriate treatment, in the appropriate care setting, and in a timely fashion.
Next, I took a secondment in the global business and I found the experience invaluable - our clients employ staff in many different countries and their health care and support is of utmost importance when employees are away from home. I have since returned to the large corporate medical team as Nurse Manager. The skills I developed in all roles have led to a more streamlined service to clients and customers alike.”
Stuart, Current Role: Underwriting Specialist
Length of time with the company: 11 years
Stuart initially joined the Claims Team and moved to Underwriting after two years. He was promoted to his current role earlier this year.
“I have been provided with excellent opportunities to progress throughout the company and develop my skills since joining Cigna. There has always been a clear career progression path in front of me within each department, but at the same time there have always been opportunities to move within departments and utilise skills in a new environment if desired.
My current role offers the chance to liaise with colleagues (both internal and external) throughout the company, which is interesting and allows me to experience new cultures and viewpoints.”
