We continue to closely monitor the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and our top priority is the safety and service of our customers, clients, employees and partners. We are encouraging everyone to follow the guidance provided by local health authorities, the World Health Organization and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Cigna is taking a number of important actions to help protect against the spread of the virus and to help ease the financial impact associated with COVID-19 testing and treatment. 

Most recently, Cigna announced its Customer Protection Program which safeguards customers from surprise bills by out-of-network providers for care related to COVID-19 treatment. The Department of Health and Human Services and several state governors have taken critical steps to prevent COVID-19 surprise bills and now Cigna is taking further action to reinforce this protection for its customers. 

Cigna's Express Scripts also announced a new program to ensure Americans can continue to afford their prescription medications during the COVID-19 pandemic. Any American who loses health care coverage as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic can use Express Scripts Parachute RxSM to secure many of their medications at affordable and predictable prices. Express Scripts Parachute RxSM will cap costs at $25 for a 30-day supply of generic drugs; $75 for a 30-day supply of brand-name medicines for a limited time.

Cigna's Customer Protection Program and Express Scripts Parachute RxSM are the latest in a series of steps Cigna has taken to help protect customers, communities, health care providers and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic. The company has committed to several actions through May 31, 2020:
