To make it easier for employer clients to support the health and well-being of their employees during this challenging time, Cigna Dental is expanding its financial assistance through the Smile Together program. Employees who are furloughed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, resulting in loss of coverage, will have access to a dental plan at no cost for six months to help maintain routine care for their mouth, teeth and gums.
Ensuring customers have access to important dental care is top of mind for Cigna because we know oral health impacts whole-person health, and can improve high-risk conditions, stress, self-esteem, and even employability.
“COVID-19 has created financial and emotional hardships for customers and their families, and our goal with the Smile Together is to provide peace of mind through continued access to important dental care,” said Frederick E. Scardellette, Vice President, Cigna Dental & Vision. “By providing discounts and removing administrative barriers to care like referrals, waiting periods and deductibles, customers will continue to have access to affordable, quality dental care.”
The Smile Together program is available to employers free of charge for six months from the time of activation, and enrollment will be available until December 31, 2020.*
Cigna Dental clients who would like to opt-in to the Smile Together program and offer it to their furloughed employees can reach out to their Cigna Dental account manager.
Smile Together is the latest offering in Cigna Dental’s expanded actions taken to help clients, customers and providers during the pandemic. In June, Cigna also announced:
- A PPE reimbursement program and new mental health resources to help dental providers re-open their offices.
- No-cost dental virtual care to improve access and protect customers in need of dental care during COVID-19.
