The Clearity Plan: The Know-Before-You-Go Plan

Our copay-only health plan helps you avoid surprise health care costs.

    How Clearity Works

Wouldn’t it be great to know exactly what a doctor’s visit or medical procedure will cost before you go? With the Clearity plan, you can.

The Clearity plan is a copay-only health insurance plan, meaning there are no deductibles and no coinsurance. You simply search for the type of care you need on myCigna®, and the copay you see is what you’ll pay.

Simple to understand, easy to use.

With the Clearity plan, you can feel confident knowing you’ll have:

    • A premium: Like most other health insurance plans, you will pay a premium to your employer. This typically comes out of your paycheck automatically.
    • More control: If you compare costs for care on myCigna in advance, you’ll know what your copay will be before you get care. This helps you avoid surprise health care costs.1
    • A predictable spending cap: Your Clearity plan has an out-of-pocket maximum. Once you reach this limit, your plan covers all your copays for the remainder of the plan year.

    Log in, search and choose.

Searching for and choosing care is easy. Here’s all you have to do:

    • Log in to myCigna, in the app2 or online.
    • Go to the search bar and, in your own words, describe what's wrong. It can be as simple as “I have a sore throat.”
    • In seconds, you’ll see a list of care options in your area along with their copay costs.
    • Compare costs, verified patient reviews, and more.
    • Choose the provider, location, and copay amount that fits your needs.
    • Call the provider to set up your appointment. All the information you need is there, including their phone number and address.

Good to know: If you’ve had a Cigna Healthcare® plan before, your past claims and doctor information will still be in your myCigna profile.

Use myCigna every time you need care.

Whether you need to see your primary care provider (PCP) for routine care, have an upcoming medical procedure, or need an MRI or other test, log in to myCigna to search for and choose the best care option for you.

    Here’s an example:

    • Let’s say you injured your knee and want your doctor to check it out. You search for your doctor’s name on myCigna and see that the copay for your visit will be $50. That sounds good, so you make an appointment.
    • Upon examination, your doctor says she wants you to have an MRI of your knee to help diagnose your injury. Before moving forward, you mention to your doctor that you’d like to compare costs of MRI facilities near you.
    • While you’re with your doctor, open the myCigna app and type “MRI” in the search bar. A list of imaging facility options near you will show up. Each provider will show a copay amount for your test.
    • Let your doctor know where you want to go for your MRI based on the cost you’d like to pay. Your doctor can send the order there, helping you control costs.

To save on every visit, you can work with your PCP or other providers before you need care, including if you need lab work, imaging, or to see a specialist. By comparing copay costs for different providers, you can make informed choices that fit your health care needs as well as your budget.
