How to Control Health Care Costs With the Clearity Plan

Compare and prepare before you make your appointment.

How does this plan help me control my health care costs?

With the Clearity plan, finding a provider that fits your health care needs and your budget is simple, fast, and reliable.

The Clearity plan has no deductibles and no coinsurance. When you need care, you'll pay your provider a set cost, or copay, for your care. That's it. You can compare copays for different providers quickly and easily on the myCigna® app or myCigna.com.1

Here are two examples of how the Clearity plan works:

    Urgent Care

Some conditions like the flu, strep, upper respiratory infections, or minor injuries can be taken care of at an urgent care center, a walk-in clinic, or through a virtual visit.2 These are the quickest and most budget-friendly options for minor medical conditions.

    • You can search for health facilities (such as “urgent care”) on myCigna. You’ll see a list of providers near you, along with their copay cost.
    • The copay you see on myCigna will include all tests you may need during your visit. Whether it’s a simple flu or COVID-19 test, an x-ray or some other imaging test, your copay covers these costs at that provider location.

    Emergency Care

Other conditions, like sharp chest pains, difficulty breathing, and more serious injuries, may require emergency room attention.3

    • The copay shown on myCigna for emergency care covers everything that happens during that visit including blood tests, an x-ray or MRI, and more.

Note: If your doctor refers you to a specialist, wants you to get a lab test or imaging at another facility, or prescribes a medication, there will be additional copays for each of those visits and/or services. Check myCigna before your referrals and tests are scheduled to compare and choose care at the location and cost that works for you.

How does this plan help me prepare for surgery or another medical procedure?

There may be times when you need surgery right away, but surgeries and other medical procedures are often scheduled weeks in advance. With the Clearity plan, you can plan ahead by searching for and comparing costs on myCigna to help you make informed care decisions.

    • Log in to myCigna and type in the care you need, such as “surgery.”
    • You’ll see a list of providers near you, along with the copay they will charge for that procedure at that location.
    • Pre-admission testing is covered at $0 when you choose an in-network provider.
    • Additional copays may apply for pre- and post-surgical services, including pre-operation appointments, specialists, follow-up visits, or rehab or physical therapy that occur on different days.

Important: Sometimes surgical or medical procedures are “bundled” as one set copay. If a bundle is offered, you’ll see a list of provider choices along with their copay. The copay shown for bundled services includes all services, from admission to discharge.

How does this plan help me manage costs if I’m expecting a baby?

Searching for maternity care options is similar to how you would compare costs for procedures.

    • Log in to myCigna and type in “maternity.”
    • You’ll see a list of providers who can support you along your pregnancy journey and their copays.
    • Maternity copays typically cover select prenatal and postnatal care along with any care you may need during delivery, including a C-section.
