CIGNA is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of its business by reducing energy consumption and waste production. The Company continues to update energy management and HVAC systems at its owned and leased sites by replacing older boilers, lighting and air conditioning units with newer, more energy efficient systems. In addition, where and whenever appropriate, CIGNA has taken additional energy saving and waste reduction measures including: identifying vacant space in order to consolidate operations, pursuing consolidation into newer and more energy efficient buildings, and reducing pollution and saving natural resources through paper recycling. CIGNA has also renovated existing space by tinting windows and installing more reflective roofs, variable frequency drives, lighting system motion sensors, and touchless sinks. At certain worksites in California, CIGNA participates in a rideshare program to reduce emissions related to employee commutes.
