FUTURES Golf Tour Benefiting Breast Cancer Research

In July 2005, CIGNA launched its three-year commitment to be the title sponsor and host for the CIGNA Golf Classic, part of the FUTURES Golf Tour at Gillette Ridge Golf Club in Bloomfield, Connecticut. CIGNA joined forces with the FUTURES Golf Tour, the official development tour for the Ladies Professional Golf Tour (LPGA), to support Chip In For A Cure, a Hartford-based charity benefiting breast cancer research.

Women's health issues have been a focus of CIGNA for many years. As A Business of Caring, we are a company committed to promoting the health and well-being of our customers and members by funding breast cancer prevention strategies and education, helping women make better choices that result in superior clinical outcomes for these programs.

The CIGNA Golf Classic tournament supports breast cancer programs at Hartford Hospital, St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center and UConn Medical Center. In previous years, proceeds from the event funded some of the following programs:

• Research focusing on prevention strategies for women at increased risk.
• Offering loaner laptop computers, informational software, and/or use of a resource center to women diagnosed with breast cancer.
• CDC Breast Cancer and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program: offering funds for follow-up therapy to women, including those that are medically underserved or uninsured.
• Outreach education.
