The Community Caring AwardsEveryone who volunteers to help others in their communities deserves recognition. To provide this recognition, CIGNA offers Grants for Givers to organizations where our people volunteer. We also feel that special effort warrants special recognition. Givers volunteers whose work is particularly creative or beneficial - as determined by a special CIGNA nominating committee - are singled out as Volunteer of the Month. The highlight of each year of CIGNA caring is the naming of the Volunteer of the Year, an award made more meaningful because the winner is selected by the Points of Light Foundation, an independent organization whose mission is to promote volunteerism among Americans. Understanding that some projects can only thrive when undertaken by several committed people, the Team Volunteer Awards support projects in which three or more CIGNA people participate. Together these four programs constitute our unique Community Caring Awards which, during their twenty-three year history, have recognized hundreds, contributed thousands, and made life better for us all.
