Cigna consistently upgrades buildings and office areas to state-of-the-art energy management systems to maximize energy savings. This includes waste reduction measures like recycling and using water filtration systems instead of water coolers, as well as flexible office space policies that identify vacant space to consolidate operations and renovate existing space to maximize energy efficiency.
Further measures include:
- Building renovations are carried out according to LEED "green certification" standards (and use recycled building materials and products, and low VOC materials, like our new "green" office park in Texas
- Many facilities have achieved 'Energy Star' certification, a goal for all our sites
- High-efficiency equipment (water filtration, lighting systems, roofing, plumbing, etc.) reduce energy usage
- Heating and A/C system upgrades reduce energy consumption
- Janitorial teams use green cleaning products
- Recycling programs are implemented at all facilities where possible
