Saving Babies Together
At Cigna, we know that achieving and maintaining good health is a lifelong process—a series of healthy steps that begins before a person is even born.
The dedicated people at the March of Dimes know this, too. Their focus is on making sure that by the time every baby is ready to take its first step, its parents have taken every step possible to make sure their new child is as healthy as it can be.
Since 1995, the people of Cigna have actively supported the March of Dimes. That was the year we signed on as national sponsors of the March of Dimes' annual fundraising campaign. Now called March for Babies, this yearly nationwide event unites thousands and raises millions for the cause of healthy babies and healthy moms.
Education for healthier pregnancies
Joining together each year with our neighbors to March for Babies isn't the only thing that Cigna is doing to help the March of Dimes. Cigna's Healthy Babies program is a voluntary educational program for eligible Cigna HealthCare members. Participants receive free educational materials from the March of Dimes, including information about prenatal care, reducing risk factors, baby development, and nutrition and smoking cessation. They'll also receive a copy of mama, the March of Dimes' award-winning magazine.
We've worked with the March of Dimes on many other initiatives to support babies born prematurely, and to reduce the number of premature births in the U.S. All told, Cigna, the Cigna Foundation and the people of Cigna have contributed over $25 million to the March of Dimes.
