Cigna's large provider network makes it easy for employees to get quality in-network care. Our Cigna Collaborative Care1 value-based arrangements are embedded in our network. Through the Open Access Plus National Network, 99% of Cigna customers have access to a Collaborative Care physician in the top 40 markets.2
Typical Plan Structure
Your plan will vary based on what you discuss with your local Cigna representative, but here is a basic summary of how Open Access Plus plans typically work:
Open Access Plus
- Primary care physician (PCP) selection is recommended to serve as the employee's personal health advocate. PCP selection is not required.
- Referrals are not required to see a specialist
- Out-of-network coverage is included at a higher out-of-pocket cost
- Pre-certification may be required for hospitalizations and some types of outpatient care
- Cost control through customizable plan designs
Open Access Plus In-Network
- Primary care physician (PCP) selection is recommended to serve as the employee's personal health advocate. PCP selection is not required.
- Referrals are not required to see a specialist
- Out-of-network care is excluded from coverage, unless it's an emergency
- Pre-certification may be required for hospitalizations and some types of outpatient care
